I was curious about aromatherapy and wanted to try
it. I found out that it basically involves the use of essential oils to maintain
one's well-being. But as I continue to read books on this subject, I
realise that to get full benefits aromatherapy, it requires massage to be
incorporated into the treatment. I personally prefer to be massaged than
to massage! So I try other more practical ideas to use the oils, which are
quite fun :
My children are ticklish, so massage
is ruled out. Whenever they have a cold or are too active before bedtime,
I put a drop of lavender on the front or collar of their pajamas. They think it
smells nice too.

We take more showers than full baths.
I put some drops of lavender and geranium into plain unperfumed bath lotions.
Sometimes, I add in tangerine oils as the children seem to like this smell.
This is done the same for shampoos.
I apply a drop of tea tree neat on my
pimples and I use rose, lavender or chamomille floral waters as toner. For the children's mild skin rashes,
I found that the floral waters actually helped to soothe the skin. I also put a small bottle of
lavender
in my handbag. It is very useful for insect bites or headaches.

I personally love the idea of blends,
but am generally too lazy or does not have the time. So I just burn a single
oil, using the appropriate aromatherapy burners. Sometimes I buy those
blends that are being sold, either in the shops or the internet.
I got all these ideas from reading
books. There's a lot information on the internet too. As I continue
to work on my page, I would be mentioning books and "oil recipes" which I think are interesting, informative and fun.
